Due to the severe drought and low water in the Perry Yacht Club harbor, Commodore’s Cup as we know it has been modified. There will be no scheduled races over Labor Day weekend but sailing, social, and fund-raising events are still planned.
We intend to have a fun-filled weekend complete with the banquet and DJ on Saturday night and a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning. The banquet will be prepared by the newly-formed world-famous Perry Yacht Club Culinary Institute (PYCCI). Pay only $15 per adult ($5 per child) and you’ll be fed like royalty (beverages included). Breakfast on Sunday morning will be a bargain at $??.?? (donations encouraged).
Very important: In order for the Saturday night banquet to be a success we really need an accurate head count for the purpose of planning the meal. Please indicate, in the “Leave a Reply” box below, the number of adults and children you plan to bring to the banquet. Again, the cost of the meal and beverages is $15 per adult and $5 per child, collected prior to dinner on Saturday night.
We will have a silent auction and live auction on Saturday. There will also be fine art paintings for sale, actually painted at PYC last month for the Commodore’s Cup.
If you have any items you would like to donate items to our silent auction please contact Brandi Wells at trinitysmom.bw@gmail.com or even better, bring them to the Patriotic Party this Saturday night.
Please watch your email and PYCnews.com for further information regarding low water in the harbor and Commodore’s Cup weekend. We appreciate your support this year and hope you will continue to support our junior sailors by participating in Labor Day activities and donating auction items.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Cathy and I plan to be at the banquet and party (2 adults, no kids). Given the low water situation we believe it’s more important than ever to support this modified Commodore’s Cup weekend. And we’ll definitely be donating some things for the auctions.
I’m more than just a little dissapointed there will not be a regatta. It seems to me the sailors could decide whether they could get their boats out on the lake and/or choose shallow draft boats to race in. I have already sent in my registration and do plan to participate in the social activities.

Neal,
Canceling the races was a hard decision for those involved in CC. She Worthy was practicing her spinnaker handling so we could finally beat Double Trouble!! We are still working on sailing activities that would involve smaller boats. Stay tuned for further information. If you have any suggestions, let me know.
Neal, thanks for your thoughts on this.
To echo Terri, cancelling was a very difficult decision. Board members tried to discuss it by e-mail and telephone but decided that we needed to hold a special board meeting (live and in person). After a couple of hours of careful deliberation on Monday night we made the decision to cancel.
I compare this choice to our policy about diving off our docks (made years ago, also in low water conditions). We knew that there were real dangers associated with diving off docks and we had to decide on one of two policies: “Dive at your own risk” or “No diving”. We chose the latter. We just didn’t feel that we could sanction something that might result in damage to person or property.
Again, thanks for asking.
Count us in for two adult banquets.
Count us for 2 adults, 1 child.
Ed, Jacqueline and I will be there for the social events, but will not be enjoying the banquet as we will be at the football game.
Well….I’m pretty depressed about the lack of races. Was looking forward to it all year and I know my Dad was as well. Unfortunately I’m pretty sure I’m going to end up staying in Texas this time. Hopefully next year we will have some water! See y’all next summer…
Mij and I will be there for the banquet and will donate wine to the auction. We may have some other boat items to donate also.
I don’t consider Wayne or I very adult, but we will be at the banquet. Two “adults”
Since Kim and I will be cooking for the banquet count 1 adult and 3 children (yep its the 3rd child ME) Cant wait to get the smoke on!
No scheduled races even for little bitty boats??? Can’t we at least put out there that we plan to have some Sunfish races? I’m with Neal and Nancy. I’m itchin’ to RACE! Plus if we have lots of Sunfish out there, it will be a great opportunity to show the club how fun the little boats can be and get folks excited about using these great club assets!
Patience Joan, we are working on something!! Would like you be the captain of this project!!
Got the message. As difficult as it might be, I’ll be quiet now! Ha!
Just announced: The first ever, unsanctioned pirated Commodore’s Cup. There is no reason we can not race at Lake Perry on our own!
ARRRRRRRR! Count on She Worthy being out in the middle of the lake ready to RRRRRACE!
