Christmas in July is gonna fly!

The Christmas in July party is gonna fly!  It’s scheduled for July 21 at 6 p.m., thanks to hosts Terri Tilford and Penny Morgan!

As hosts of Christmas in July Penny and Terri didn’t have to cook turkey or dressing for the entire club.  They didn’t have to cook even a morsel.   They will just need to put up a few Christmas decorations and a tree (we have one in storage at PYC) and Christmas in July will take shape.

For details, check out the party flyer.  Ho ho ho hope you can make this wild and crazy holiday party!

And please consider hosting a party. If you have questions call Shirley (913-492-4304 or 913-284-8822) or Lisa at (913-649-8951 or 913-748-9939).

Christmas In July?????????

The Christmas in July party is scheduled for July 21, but so far no one has volunteered to sponsor this fun party.

Please volunteer or we won’t have any party on July 21.  As host of Christmas in July you don’t have to cook turkey and dressing for all of our club members.  You don’t have to cook even a morsel.   It would be great to make this a pot luck dinner with families bringing their favorite Christmas dish. As host you would just need to put up a few Christmas decorations and a tree (we have one in storage at PYC) and Christmas in July will take shape.

Please consider hosting this party – it is really one of the best of the season. If you have questions call Shirley (913-492-4304 or 913-284-8822) or Lisa at (913-649-8951 or 913-748-9939).  Or even better, call them and offer to host Christmas in July!

Junior Sailing Wraps Up

The Junior Sailing season has officially culminated with the Bill Sanders Regatta.

Maddie and Alana took the gold in the crewed sunfish while Sean and Jake came in first and second in the solo sunfish. It was a very hot day with very little air but that didn’t stop our young sailors from battling for position.  I hope to see all young club members take advantage of our lovely fleet of sunfish for the rest of the summer.  The EZ-Dock system makes rigging and launching very easy.

Finally, I look forward to next year!

All the best,

Jim

Elvis is alive…

…and you can see him (or even be him) at PYC this weekend.

Please join your hosts Teresa Anderson and Terri Tilford Saturday, July 7th for the ultimate PYC bash.  Free beer, wine, pop, and water will be available. This potluck dinner party starts at 6pm. Bring your favorite Elvis dish or whatever you can buy or make to eat.

An added highlight of this spectacular evening will be the presentation of the trophy to the best dressed Elvis or Elvisette. So dust off your poodle skirts and Greaser and Rizzo outfits and lets see some jelly rolls all you Big Daddy’s and Dollys.

Our DJ, Mark, will spin some tunes for all to dance the night away.

Take a ride on “She Worthy”

It is amazing what a little pink boat has done!  PYC’s Sailin’ Sisters are having a great time sailing She Worthy and we want to spread the joy!  We want all the women of PYC to come learn to sail this fun little boat.  We will plan to show her off most Saturday mornings starting at 9 am throughout the summer.  If you would like to schedule a ride then or at any other time contact Joan Allen at allenhouse4@sbcglobal.net or (913) 648-6028.

If you are concerned that She Worth might heel too much consider this:  there are at least two of us who, not very long ago, felt the exact same way.  Now we can’t wait for the weekends to come around so we can get back out there and sail her to the max!  Be bold!  Come try it!

As always, look to the Sailin’ Sisters Blog for more information and scheduling of events.

The 2012 PYC Paintout – An interesting and fun experience for all

The 2012 PYC Paintout should be an interesting and fun day for the 35 artists already registered to participate in this event on Saturday, July 21.

The artists represent 4 art associations, Mid America Pastel Society; The Northland Art League; Greater Kansas City Art Association; and the Missouri Valley Impressionists Society. The assignment given to the artists is to paint anything related to sailing and PYC. They will be working in a variety of mediums, oil, acrylic, pastels, watercolors and/or mixed media. Many of them will be taking reference photos so if you see someone pointing a camera at you or your boat, smile and don’t be bashful. They may have questions about sailing or your boat. Who knows, they might be a want-to-be sailor.

Completed art work representing PYC and sailing can be submitted for sale during the Commodore’s Cup weekend on Saturday, Sept 2, 2012. Twenty percent of all sales will be donated to the Youth Sailing Program. Last year 19 paintings were submitted and with the sale of paintings and some prints, we raised over $400 for the Youth Sailing Program. So bring your cash and/or checks to the regatta art show.

If you have any questions, please contact Fritz or Cheri Kramer at 913-963-7927.
